Baba has said there are three stages of working with mantras, each stage is both more subtle and more powerful. The first stage is to audibly chant the mantra. This effects the molecules of the body. The second stage is to mentally chant the mantra – don’t even move your lips. Writing the mantra falls here, though there is other significance to writing. Each time you write it you will be mentally focusing the mantra.
