The Secretary OC Hi Everybody, Welcome to the Secretary OC. I wanted to do this introductory video to tell you a little bit about my story and why I decided to help people out with their businesses. I started my secretary business seven years ago and I'm doing really, really well. I had 30 years' experience in the secretary and administrative world and I realized that I knew as much as some of the people I was working for so I decided to quit my job and start my own business and that's exactly what I did. My husband came home that night and I said, "Honey, I quit my job and I'm starting my own secretarial business—and then he passed out—but I picked him up and then we went forward from there. I started out in the Yellow Pages dialing for clients—and I got some. Then I went around to offices—I had a homemade flier—this is a professional one, but I had a homemade one at that time—and I took that and my homemade business card and started introducing myself, looking for clients—and I got some. Then I joined the Orange Chamber of Commerce and have done really well since then. So I decided to take up marketing as the first thing to learn about to build your business. I picked networking because there were a lot of events going on over the holidays and they were exciting! I thought you could get a really good idea of what it's like to network.
