    Hello Wilson,

I would recommend ASQ online training as it is one of the reputed and neutral body of international repute in the field of quality management. The details can be found at http://www.asq.org/six-sigma-training/

Alternatively, you may like to consider BMGI for online training. The details can be found at http://www.bmgi.com/OA/US/lean-six-sigma/011a/

    Hope it helps.

The Six Sigma Methodology as we know it today started evolving in the late 1980’s. The challenge for parishioners today is how to receive a formal recognition that will be universally accepted in business. Unfortunately, this does not exist.

There are many training/consultintg organizations out there that claim that they can “certify” you as some colored belt in Six Sigma (Black, Green, Yellow, etc.) – the company that I work with has certified Black Belts and Green Belts. The real challenge is who certified them to be able to certify you as an upcoming user? Even the first trainers of Six Sigma (and I know a number of them) where not at that time very good in my opinion. I challenged them to take the ASQ CQE exam (still arguably higher than a Black Belt) and out of about 30 top experts, only one in the mid-1990’s was willing to take me up on my challenge and he was able to pass the exam.

My advise to you is NOT to take an online course! It would be to buy used books on eBay or obtain Six Sigma references from any source (http://www.isixsigma.com, etc.) available or see if there are local engineering groups or brick and motor schools in your area (in the States and Canada there are ASQ Sections that teach exam refer courses) who might teach Six Sigma topics. Most of the learning can be done on your own or with a little local help.

Then start doing small projects in your organization and work you way up using more and more of the tools until you feel comfortable using many of them.

What you should do then is to take a recognized certification exam (ASQ Black Belt or Green Belt or the IQF {International Quality Federation} Certification Exam). That way, once your pass the exam, you will have a piece of paper that actually means something to many (but not necessarily all) companies out there.

Otherwise, you will always be running into issues with some companies who will challenge your “certification” through a given training company (be they live or on-line).

    Good Luck
